Substance Abuse Coaching

Recovery Coaching can involve identifying the specific goals of change; identifying strategies to achieve those goals; developing coping strategies to deal with challenges; learning to develop a strong recovery support system and/or reducing use and responding to lapses or relapses. Recovery coaching provides situation specific, concrete information and suggestions to maximize support and change. It is often difficult to know how to actively implement changes and coaching assists with planning for changes and making decisions “in the moment”.

Post Treatment Coaching: Many people make the decision to seek intensive treatment for their substance abuse. There are a variety of quality in-patient treatment services available. However making the transition from intensive treatment back into the community can be an extremely challenging and risky time. Research has clearly demonstrated that having a strong aftercare support program significantly maximizes the chances for success. Implementing the strategies taught in treatment is especially challenging during the first six months of post treatment recovery Many individuals choose recovery coaching as part of their aftercare plan because of the personalized approach and accessibility.

Family Coaching: Family members are the most influential support system for an individual attempting to change substance abuse habits. Essential in helping a family member is learning about substance abuse and the healthy ways to intervene or assist in the recovery process. Family coaching can help family members understand the treatment and recovery process, how to set and maintain boundaries and how to avoid behaviors that support ongoing use.
